About the Search Process

The Search Committee — comprised of Board members, faculty, school administrators, and CDS parents — is conducting a nationwide search for our next Early Childhood Education Director. The committee worked together to develop a list of the desired qualifications and experience we seek in the search for our ECE Director. It is the rubric from which all applicants will be measured throughout the search process.

After finalizing a candidate shortlist, Community Day will announce and hold forums for Preschool parents/guardians to hear from and ask questions with prospective Directors.

Dear Community Day School Family,

We are in touch to announce that we have officially launched our national search for our new Early Childhood Education Center Director. As was shared in her retirement announcement, we are thrilled that our longtime Director, Vickie Inglese, will continue in her role in the interim and will be an integral part of the search process. We are also fortunate that our Assistant Director, Patty Redd, will continue to serve in a leadership capacity as we transition our new Director into her/his new role next year.

A preliminary search committee has been appointed and is composed of CDS faculty, board members, school administrators, and parents/guardians. Over the past few weeks, this committee developed a list of the desired qualifications and experience that we expect of our new ECE Director. Based on that list, a position description was created and - as of this week - the news of this nationwide search has been made public. We look forward to meeting qualified candidates in the coming days, weeks, and months.

Please know that this process is one where your feedback and involvement are both welcomed and appreciated. To facilitate this, we encourage you to fill out the form to your right. This provides an opportunity to share your insights and offer your support during the search process.

In preliminary rounds, candidate interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis. Semi-finalist and finalist candidates will take part in a series of scheduled visits in the winter and/or spring. We will provide more information related to attending those panels as they approach.

A Letter from Dan Ceaser, Head of School

Dear Community Day Families,

I’m writing to you today to announce the upcoming retirement of one of my esteemed colleagues - Early Childhood Education Center Director Victoria Inglese. Vickie has been - and continues to be - an integral part of Community Day, leading the preschool through numerous changes throughout her 19 year tenure while simultaneously maintaining the highest standards for early childhood education. Play-focused and child-centered, she takes the time to connect with each preschool student, finding the best way to support them on their learning journeys.

Our faculty and staff are truly grateful to Vickie for her years of dedication; she steered many of our own children and grandchildren through their earliest educational experiences, laying the foundation for bright and successful futures. While we are saddened to say goodbye to her in the role of preschool Director in the coming months, we are thrilled for her to be able to spend more time with her family, especially her own preschool-aged granddaughter.

This transition will be a gradual one; as Vickie prepares to step away from this position you will begin to see our Assistant Preschool Director, Patty Redd, more often - particularly in the afternoons during pickup times. Later on in the trimester, Community Day School will begin our nationwide search for a well-established Early Childhood Education Center Director with a track record of success.
