Creative Arts

At Community Day School, the Art Program gives every student a full year of hands-on, multimedia creative exploration. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, and design, students express their ideas in both two- and three-dimensional forms while making meaningful connections to the world around them.
More than just technique, our art program nurtures creative thinking, self-expression, empathy, and cross-cultural understanding—helping students see themselves as artists and problem-solvers who can use creativity to make an impact.

In addition to hands-on studio work, students deepen their understanding of the arts by exploring art history and the lives of artists from diverse cultures and time periods. They participate in guided critiques, learning how to thoughtfully reflect on their own work and give constructive feedback to peers in a supportive environment.
These experiences go beyond the studio. By collaborating with classroom teachers, students make multicultural and interdisciplinary connections, linking art to literature, history, science, and Judaic studies. This approach helps students recognize art as both a form of self-expression and a powerful lens for understanding the world and their place within it.
