Global Citizenship
Preparing Global Citizens

At Community Day School, we recognize that our students are growing up in an increasingly connected world. That’s why we create opportunities for them to learn not only with classmates here in Sarasota, but also with peers across the globe—both virtually and in person.
Through initiatives like a service-learning partnership with a school in Guatemala or an exchange program with our sister school in Tel Mond, Israel, students build lasting relationships, gain new perspectives, and see firsthand how global issues connect to their own lives. They also join in global collaborations that bring students together to exchange perspectives on literature, culture, and current events, and they engage in cross-cultural projects on sustainability and climate action alongside peers from around the world.
These experiences inspire them to think globally, act locally, and understand that they are part of a vibrant, interconnected world.

As our students grow in their appreciation for cultures beyond their own, they embark on a journey toward becoming curious, compassionate, and well-rounded global citizens. Through meaningful connections with peers across the world, they learn to see differences not as barriers, but as opportunities to build understanding and empathy.
Whether they are engaging in cross-cultural exchanges, collaborating on service projects with international partners, or studying global traditions in the classroom, Community Day students develop the skills to think critically, communicate across cultures, and honor perspectives that may differ from their own.
This journey not only deepens their academic learning but also shapes their character—preparing them to lead with kindness, engage thoughtfully in a diverse world, and carry forward the value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) in ways both big and small.
